Congratulations to Holly Miller who recently retained her title as Wedding cake designer of the year at the 2025 Wedding industry awards. We caught up with Holly and asked her how it felt to be two time winner!
"I don't really feel it has properly sunk in yet tbh. I don't think it really did last year at all. I just can't quite believe it. It really does feel like a bit of a dream. I feel it does show and prove that if you put yourself and invest whole heartedly into something. You really can achieve what you want.
I love my business and get so much pleasure out of doing what I do and creating fabulous cakes for the most beautiful and amazing of couples."
• National finals were held Wednesday 22nd Jan 25 at The Underglobe in London.
• We first had to win our regional awards which were held at the Aldwick Estate in November. We then progress to nationals.
• We competed against 9 other cake designers from across the country.
• Damian Bailey is the founder of the awards
• They have been running since 2011. Only a very select few go straight in and win nationals twice in a row. Many people enter numerous times before actually winning regionals, let alone nationals.
• It is a big event and the awards are held in high esteem and well recognised due to their reputation of being tough and rigorously judged.
• I had my hair and makeup done in Bath before heading up to London.
• I wore Temperley again (I also did last year). Her gowns are just beautiful, and Alice is Somerset based, so I wanted to fly the flag for our amazing County and the super talented people and skills we have here in the South West.
• I was super, nervous with trying to retain my cakey crown. Especially after winning the top prize last year. It meant a great deal to me.
• After the awards we danced the night away and felt I could finally let my hair down a tad. lol!
